SINGAPORE, 21 JULY 2008 - 20 year old Singaporean commercial and fashion photographer, Zhang Jingna is proud to present
her first solo exhibition and official launch of her first book, 'Something Beautiful' at the Arts House, Print Gallery.
The accompanying photo book would be available for sale during the exhibition.
An ethereal, dreamlike quality permeates her work with a distinctive cinematographic influence and a quiet confidence
and maturity belying her age. 'Something Beautiful' showcases a selection of her collection of photographic work
created over the past 2 years.
Born in the outskirts of Beijing into a sporting family, Jingna moved to Singapore with her mother when she was 8. She
was an active member of the Singapore air rifle team for 5 years, showing talent in the sport after breaking a national
record at 14 after picking up the sport for 9 months. Eschewing the conventional academic path towards success, she
made the bold move to leave the highly regarded Raffles Girl's School at 16, and later, a degree in fashion design at
the Lasalle College of the Arts at 19 to pursue photography professionally. In order to focus on her passion in
photography, she had painfully sacrificed her spot in the national air rifle team and has not looked back since.
Only picking up the camera 2 years ago, Jingna's growing professional portfolio already includes international companies
like Ogilvy & Mather Advertising Taiwan for Mercedes Benz, Architecture International and Wacom, as well as local
organizations like The Arts House and Lasalle College of the Arts. She has also produced fashion editorial work for
magazines like Harpers Bazaar, BeautyBlackBook, Men's Folio and Project:Smitten.
Using the pseudonym "zemotion", she is one of the most popular artists on community art site deviantART, gathering over
8 million views for her work displayed on the site. In 2007, she was awarded Singapore Master Photographer of the Year
2007 by the Masters Photographers Association. At 19, she is also the youngest-ever recipient of Associateship in the
Master Photographers Association internationally.
